Toshiba has introduced a new ultrabook with a 14 inch display. It will be available soon in Australia for $1499 Australian, or a little over $$1699 US — but computers tend to be pretty pricey down under. I suspect the Toshiba Satellite U840 will be a little more affordable if and when it makes it to the States.

The U840 is Toshiba’s second ultrabook. The company already offers the Toshiba Portege Z830 line of ultrabooks with 13 inch displays in the US, with prices as low as $799.

Toshiba’s new 14 inch model has a 1366 x 768 pixel display, an Intel Core i5-2467M processor, 8GB of DDR3 memory, a USB 3.0 port and 2 USB 2.0 ports, WiFi, and Bluetooth, and a backlit, spill-resistant keyboard.

In Australia the thin and light laptop will be available with a 320GB hard drive and 16GB of solid state cache, but Ultrabook News reports that an SSD-only modely will be available in Singapore.
