Dell is introducing its first ultrabook in the Latitude line of business-class computers. The Dell Latitude 6430u is a 14 inch laptop which measures 0.82 inches thick, weighs 3.7 pounds, and will ship with Windows 8 on October 26th.

While the Dell Latitude 6430u is a thin and light laptop, it’s also built sturdy. Dell says it’s the only ultrabook that meets MIL-STD-810G military test standards. It has a magnesium alloy chassis and a spill-resistant keyboard.

The Latitude 6430u will be available with up to 256GB of solid state storage. Dell will offer the ultrabook with Intel Core i3, i5, or i7 Ivy Bridge processors.

The laptop features Ethernet, WiFi, and Bluetooth 4.0, VGA and HDMI ports, and a back-lit keyboard. Below the keyboard is a standard touchpad, but there’s also a pointing stick in the center of the keyboard.

Unfortunately Dell doesn’t seem to think high resolution screens are a must for business-class computers. The Latitude 6430u has a 1366 x 768 pixel display.
