The original Dell Zino HD was already one of the best options for someone looking for a prebuilt small form factor desktop to use as a home theater PC. Sure, there are plenty of NVIDIA ION powered nettops out there already, but the Zino HD has a more powerful CPU and ATI Radeon graphics that can play HD video along with the best ION systems. Now Dell has outed an updated version of the Zino HD, and it offers even more power, while keeping an affordable starting price of $299.99.

The base model gets you a desktop computer with a 2.3GHz AMD Athlon II V140 single core processor, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 integrated graphics, 2GB of DDR3 memory, a 250GB, 7200RPM hard drive, and a DVD burner. The computer also runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and comes with a USB keyboard and mouse.

You can also upgrade to a dual or even quad core processor, Windows 7 Professional, a larger hard drive, although those features will cost you a bit more.

It looks like there should also be WiFi options and the option to add an AMD HD 5450 1GB graphics card. but those options don’t appear to be available at Dell.com yet.

The computer includes HDMI, VGA, USB, Ethernet, eSATA, mic, headphone, and S/PDIF ports and 7.1 channel audio. There’s also an integrated infrared receiver which lets you use a media center remote control without an adapter.  It measures 7.8″ x 7.8″ x 3.4″ and weighs about 3.5 pounds.

  1. The extended upgrade options are available when starting from a beefier base model. There is no way to get the discrete graphics card for less than 500USD.

  2. I really like my Zino HD and have gone completely to small low power form factor. I still have a powerful desktop, but only turn it on when I want to play a demanding game.
I think the Zino (or similar) low power PC would meet most people’s needs and they would not no the difference most of the time.
Just think about how much electricity we could save. I just use it mostly for media but the ATI 4330 can play many games.

    1. What, you’re saying you don’t think this guy runs an unannounced, unreleased operating system?

      Yeah, you’re probably right… typo fixed. 🙂
