The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 may have had a funky keyboard without any Fn keys, but some folks really preferred this 9 inch netbook to the 10 inch models that replaced it. And so it was kind of a sad day when Dell unceremoniously pulled the Mini 9 from its netbook lineup. The move came a little sooner than Dell had expected, due to supply issues.

But apparently Dell managed to get its hands on a few extra units, because the company has brought back the Mini 9 for a limited time promotion. For the next few days only, you can pick up a Mini 9 running Ubuntu Linux for $199. The Windows XP model starts at $269.

In a post on the Direct2Dell blog, the Mini 9 (which does the talking for itself), says that this is a one time thing. When the deal ends, that’s it. So if you’ve been hoping to pick up a cheap netbook to turn into a hackintosh, you might want to act fast.

  1. I am sad that the netbooks are getting larger rather than smaller, isn’t it the idea to make them small? 10-12 inch are almost as large as the small notebooks. I want one as small as the flip start!

  2. thanks for the info. a friend of mine wanted one of these and was bummed out that it was pulled. hopefully she’ll be able to get one.
