Asus practically invented the netbook category two years ago, and the company’s been busy pumping out 7, 9, 10, and 11.6 inch mini-laptops ever since. But while the Eee PC 1005HA is one of the most popular netbooks on the market today, there’s one feature it lacks that you can find in some competing products from companies including Dell, HP, and Lenovo: a high resolution display.
But it looks like that’s about to change, at least in Japan. Asus Japan has announced a new version of the 1005HA called the Eee PC 1005HR. The netbook will feature a 10.1 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display along with your usual Eee PC specs including a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 CPU, 1GB of RAM, 250GB hard drive, 802.11b/g/n WiFI, Bluetooth 2.1, and 0.3MP webcam. This model will run Windows 7 Starter Edition and it will come with a 6 cell, 8.5 hour battery.
The Eee PC 1005HR should be available in Japan in November for 49,800 yen, or about $547. It will probably be cheaper if and when it ever gets released in the US.

I wish there was an option for an SSD instead of the 250gig HDD. 🙁

I wonder if we’ll be able to mod this screen into an 1000h, or n10j?
I manage a cluster of 5 computers with my ASUS 1005HA netbook.
The computers render POVRay animations at HD resolution.
I wish that I could have this little toy right now!
