suzuki neutron 701

Suzuki may be a name that’s associated with cars and motorycles. But the Suzuki Neutron 701 MNI netbook doesn’t appear to have any wheels at all (uless you cound the circular logo on the lid).

What the netbook does have is a 7.1 inch touchscreen display that can be folded down over the keyboard for use in tablet mode. It’s not clear from the product listing what the display resolution is. The netbook a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520 CPU, supports up to 4GB of RAM, and sports 3 USB ports, a VGa port, 5-in-1 card reader, ExpressCard slot, 802.11b/g WiFi, and Bluetooth 2.1. It also has a 1.3MP webcam, and a 56K modem, which is rather unusual in a netbook.

The whole package measures 9″ x 6.7″ x 1.2″ and weighs 2 pounds with a 4 cell battery

update: It looks like this may be a rebadged Clevo TN70M, although it looks like Suzuki may have taken some liberties with the specs. The TN70M maxes out at 1GB of RAM. It does come with an optional 1.86GHz Atom Z540 CPU though.

thanks Cakkes!

  1. can u send me a free laptop notebook of this model because I don’t have any And I need it in my school’s work, and could you plerase sponsor me for sth which I will tell you in mail.

Please reply on my mail. THANKS

  2. I actually did more research on this Suzuki Convertible and if I am not mistaken it is a rebadged Clevo TN70M (https://www.clevo.com.tw/en/products/prodinfo.asp?productid=164) . What still bothers me though is if this convertible does indeed support 4GB RAM since the the clevo convertibles only support up to 1GB. Anyways I’d write to them and have them try to support their claims on this notebook.

  3. The only reason to have a 7″ screen is if the thing were a tablet without a keyboard. The keyboards on 7″ machines are too samll, or the the over all case is bigger thus the bezels around the screen is too big.

10″ touch is the shakeout size. You can’t cheat human factors, egnomics will always spank you when you let the tech sitting in bins decide you form factor. I’m sure 7″ screen are cheap. I’m sure a machine half-way between a 10″ case and a 8.9″ case makes it lighter. But in the end the device has to be make sense in your hands and in your bag.

I think a 10″ touch screen model made by anyone would kick that Suzuki to the curb.

  4. If u click on the link in the post, it says the res is WSVGA. Also, this umpc looks like that clevo 7″ umpc with a higher res.

  5. Are the dimensions really 9″ x 6.7″ x 1.2″? Because that’s a HUGE chassis for a 7″ screen – I can see a gigantic bezel coming here.

In fact that’s slightly bigger or about the same size as 9″-Netbooks like the EeePC 900 or Dell Mini 9. So I don’t really see the point in a tiny 7″ screen when the overall size isn’t that small at all.

    1. Looks like the chassis is significantly larger than the screen. Perhaps it will have a larger keyboard for easier typing…

  6. What operating system? What size storage? Is it available in the US? I am glad someone sees the value in a small unit, awesome.

  7. It also includes an optical drive, probably DVD+-RW given it says “ODD super-multi”.

  8. Wow, it’s drifting close to UMPC territory with that form factor. Ah, the days of UMPC hype.

    Any word on pricing?
