The new build of Windows 10 for phones (with the Spartan web browser and a crop of new apps) may be grabbing the spotlight today. But Microsoft is also working on an upcoming update of the Windows 10 preview for desktop computers… and, if leaked images are accurate, one of the most notable new features is support for a dark theme.
In addition to changing the colors of the operating systems theme, you’ll be able to adjust transparency and other settings to customize the look of the operating system.

I recently reviewed Acer’s 11.6 inch 2-in-1 with a Core i3 processor and liked almost everything about it… except for the list price and the low battery life. A Core M chip could theoretically address both issues, although I wouldn’t expect a *huge* impact on battery life. [TabTech]
Does it also play funeral dirges on boot? Since they’re staying on the failed path of Windows 8 with just a few deckchairs moved around I’m not sure user acceptance and uptake can be expected to be any better… unless prople are getting desperate to replace dead PCs and end up with Windows 10 because it comes preinstalled.
A dark theme would come in handy, as far as battery life goes, for when or if they ever decide to make an OLED device. Preferably a full Windows phone.

A dark colored theme will have no effect on battery life. You have wrong ideas about how an LCD functions.
I said OLED device! That, in the photo, is a 5.5″ LCD!, and I posted it just to showcase the novelty of a new gen UMPC. Read things before you reply! This is not Snapchat.
OLED doesn’t use a backlight or LCD; it’s a matrix of pixels with tiny LEDs in them. If fewer are on, it uses less power.
