The Asus Zenfone 2 is a low-cost smartphone with surprisingly strong specs. Asus offers a $299 model with 4GB of RAM, a 5.5 inch full HD display and a powerful Intel Atom Moorefield processor and a $199 model with half the RAM and a slightly less powerful chip.

Want something smaller and cheaper? Now Asus is also offering the Zenfone 2E in the United States.

It’s a $120 smartphone for AT&T‘s GoPhone pre-paid wireless service.

The Asus Zenfone 2E is basically the American version of the Asus Zenfone 2 ZE500CL which is available in other markets.

The phone features entry-level specs, including:

  • 5 inch, 1280 x 720 pixel display
  • Intel Atom Z2560 Clover Trail+ dual-core CPU
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 8GB of storage
  • 8MP rear and 2MP front cameras
  • 2,200 mAh battery
  • 802.11b/g/n WiFi
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • 4G LTE
  • Micro SIM card

Asus is currently offering the phone at some Walmart and Target locations. It’ll be available from AT&T starting July 24th. And it hits Best Buy in August.

All told, if you’ve got a little more money to spend, the $199 model is a much better phone, with a faster processor, more memory and storage, and a higher-resolution display. But it does cost more.

    1. Just came from Android Police. They have full specs over there. It has a microSDXC slot, runs lollipop 5.0, and still has the dang ZenUI overlay. At this price AT&T is likely letting it go close to pass-through. Understandable if you are locked in to their prepaid plan.

  1. Looks like it’s meant to compete with the Blu Life One. It’s $30 cheaper. But the Blu has better cameras.

    1. BLO LTE was only $100 pre-order. Got one to play with, Camera is very good for $100 phone.
