Misfit has partnered with Swarovski on its latest wearable fitness tracker. Not surprisingly, that means the Swarovski Shine activity tracker is covered in crystal… but there’s also a violet version with an unusual feature: it’s solar powered.
Like other members of the Misfit Shine family, the Swarovski Shine can track steps, distance, and sleep quality, and the devices are waterproof.
The clear model has a crystal face and the main thing setting it apart from other Misfit Shine device is its (arguably) more attractive design.
The purple/violet version has a solar charging surface that lets you keep its battery charged just by keeping the device exposed to sunlight. While I’ve found it can be tough to actually get enough sunlight to recharge a smartphone using a small solar panel, fitness trackers like this tend to have tiny batteries that can last for days at a time… and the Misfit Shine products are designed to get up to 6 months of run time.
That means you probably don’t need all that much solar power to keep the Swarovski Shine charged.
The Swaraovski Shine devices will also be available with a range of bedazzled straps. Prices will run from $170 to $250 when they launch in February.
