Fujitsu doesn’t generally make the kind of cheap Android tablets that have been all the rage lately. Instead the company focuses on adding premium features (like waterproof cases). Two of the company’s latest Android tablets continue the trend, one with a ruggedized case and the other with some advanced security features.

Fujitsu Stylistic M702 semi-rugged tablet

The Fujitsu Stylistic M702 is a 10.1 inch tablet with an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 32GB of storage, Android 4.0 and up to 15 hours of battery life.

But what makes this tablet special is its durability. It’s waterproof and dust-proof.

You can dunk it in up to 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes, and since the ports are covered to prevent them from getting wet, they also resist dust better than the USB or SD card slots on a typical tablet.

Fujitsu also has a scratch-resistant glass panel on the front of the tablet, and includes some security features on this model such as a fingerprint scanner and full disk encryption.

Fujitsu unveiled the Stylistic M702 at Mobile World Congress in Spain last week.

So a fingerprint scanner isn’t good enough for you? How about a tablet with a palm reader?

At CeBIT in Germany, Engadget found a 10 inch tablet with a palm scanner on the side which scans your palms, but which probably won’t be able to tell your fortune with the results — unless your fortune is simply to unlock your tablet.

The tablet can recognize either your left or right hand and you can wave your palm over the top of the sensor if you don’t feel like pressing it against the tablet.

Fujitsu plans to bring this tablet to market in Japan and Europe by this summer.
