Chinese device maker ZTE has been promising to enter the North American phone and tablet market for a while, but so far hasn’t made much of a splash in the States. So I’m not going to hold my breath waiting for this sleek new 7 inch ZTE tablet to come to the US. But it’d be kind of nice if it did.

NVIDIA is showing off a ZTE tablet with a 7 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display, a Tegra 3 quad-core processor, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The demo unit as 16GB of storage, but I wouldn’t read too much into that — most tablets come with multiple storage capacity options.

One thing that surprised me is that the screen appeared almost too sharp. Text on the 7 inch HD display is very crisp, but also very small. This is a problem I usually associated more with Windows devices than Android products — but an NVIDIA rep suggested that the tablet’s software may not have been tweaked properly to show large icons and text.
