The ZTE Axon 7 mini is a phone that looks a lot like the Axon 7, but which is a tad smaller and a tad less powerful. Fortunately it’s also a tad cheaper.

A few days after the Axon 7 mini started showing up at European retail sites, ZTE is officially launching the phone. As expected, it features a 5.2 inch full HD display and a €299 price tag.

The Axon 7 mini should be available in Russia, Germany, Spain, Poland, Japan, Australia, India, and Saudi Arabia in September. The US price and launch date haven’t been announced yet, but ZTE says the phone is coming to the United States at some point.

The phone has a 5.2 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and dual SIM support (although you can also use one of those SIM card slots for a microSD card).

It has a 2705 mAh battery and supports Qualcomm Quick Charge, allowing you to charge the battery to 50 percent in about a half hour.

Other features include a 16MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera, a fingerprint sensor on the back, and a USB 2.0 Type-C connector on the bottom. The phone will ship with Android 6.0 software and the Axon 7 mini comes in gold or grey color options.

Three  major questions remain: when will the phone be available in North America? How much will it cost? And when did 5.2 inch phone start qualifying as “mini?”
