The ZTE V9 is a 7 inch Google Android tablet with 3G capabilities. The tablet runs Google Android 2.1, features GPS, WiFi, and a 3MP camera. According to specs obtained by Zol, not only will the tablet be able to surf the web over 3G, but it will also be able to function as a mobile WiFi hotspot — assuming your carrier enables that feature.
ZTE is a Chinese company and it’s doubtful that we’ll see the tablet released under the ZTE brand name. But I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Western company or two rebrand the device. The hardware looks pretty solid, although there only appear to be buttons for Home, Menu, and Back. Most Android devices also have a dedicated Search button.

ZTE produces rock hard quality combined with unbeatable price. Its big rival, Huawei is much softer on quality…..
Actually, ZTE is mainly a telecom gear producing and managing global giant (with huge revenues). It produces smart phones to follow its two-wings strategy. First selling millions of decent AND cheap smart phones to kill the data transfer capabilities of the carriers………then providing brand new 4G networks for them for billions….
I recently got hold of a ZTE rebranded phone (the Orange San Francisco) and have to say it is pretty darn good. The most remarkable thing being the price! Many of my more expensive phone owning friends are looking it and wondering why they are paying hundreds and hundreds of pounds for their smart phones!
If this tablet can do all the things a tablet should at a price that makes the Tab and iPad look (even more) expensive then good luck to them!
Why is still Android2.1? There are already Android 2.2 tablet now in the market. Source:
And we all know, only the true Android 2.2 OS can run Flash!
China is a little behind the curve for Android version adoption as they’re mostly making tablets that they can make as cheaply as possible.
The main issue is that Android is made for Smartphones and not tablets. So any company creating a Android tablet has to invest in customizing the install to work properly with their hardware, which also can vary considerably between manufacturers.
Any apps they install also have to work with the hardware and there is also a growing demand to have a app ecosystem that not all companies can support.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab may be expensive but the quality shows through every aspect of its functionality, which clearly shows the difference when compared to these other cheaper tablets.
That screen has some weird vertical streaking issues going on.
