Zotac is updating its ZBOX line of tiny desktop computers with new Intel Haswell processors. The update to 4th-generation Intel processors should bring better graphics and GPU performance and lower power consumption — which could make these little guys good options for home theater PCs, among other things.
As usual, Zotac will offer barebones models as well as “Plus” editions which come with memory and hard drive storage, but no operating system.
Each model features a 2.5 inch drive bay, support for up to 16GB of DDR3-1600 memory (in 2 SODIMM slots), 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and Gigabit Ethernet. Zotac will offer models with Core i3 through Core i7 processors.
If you opt for the Plus model, you’ll get 4GB of RAM and a 500GB, 5400RPM hard drive.
The entry-level model will be available with an Intel Core i3-4130T processor, Intel HD 4400 graphics, HDMI and DVI ports, 2 USB 2.0 ports, and 2 USB 3.0 ports.
The dual-core processor supports hyperthreading and features a TDP of 35W.
Next up we have a model with a Core i5-4570T dual-core chip, which also has a TDP of 35W. This model has Intel HD 4600 graphics, dual DisplayPort and DVI-I, 4 USB 3.0 ports, and an mSATA 6.0 Gb/s connector.
The top-of-the-line model sports a Core i7-4770T quad-core chip with Intel HD 4600 graphics and a 45W TDP.
Like the other models, this chip supports hyperthreading, which means it can handle up to 8 threads at once.
The rest of the specs are the same as those for the ID92.
thanks Fanless Tech
Great form factor but by the time you have a functional machine you have spent more than what a laptop would cost. Using a laptop moves you from HTPC to CPPC (Couch Potato). You can stream etc. and check your email at the same time.
These have fans right? The Fanless Tech source link doesn’t go to any particular article there.
Yes, they have fans. I gave Fanless Tech a via link because the founder of that site pointed these out to me.
Looks good.
Had a quick look for pricing online.
The entry level ID91 barebones starts at $339.99.
Where did you find such a cheap price? Everywhere I look it’s about $450.
