Chinese phone maker Xiaomi is expected to offer an updated version of its Mi-3 smartphone featuring a faster processor and more RAM.

Leaked photos that popped up recently suggest the new Xiaomi Mi-3S will also have a slightly redesigned case.

The new phone is said to have a 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM. It’ll ship with Android 4.4 KitKat software.

By comparison, the original Xiaomi Mi-3 features a 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chip, 2GB of RAM, and initially shipped with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Both phones have 5 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel displays and 16GB of storage.

The new Xiaomi Mi-3S has a slightly less boxy design, thanks to rounded corners.

At this point, Xiaomi phones aren’t widely available outside of Asia. But the company has a reputation for offering high-quality hardware and custom software at reasonably low prices, and Xiaomi plans to expand its global reach in the coming months and years. It’s too early to say whether the Mi-3S will come to America anytime soon, but one day you may be able to buy this phone or something like it outside of China.

  1. “but one day you may be able to buy this phone or something like it outside of China.”

Don’t forget that you yourself reported that they’ll be expanding to ten more countries…just not the US. But if they expand as promised it should be available outside to your neighbours down south.

    1. If the device do make it to US, it will be a lot more expensive. XM revenue source is from their services like Amazon. They are not going to be able to generate any revenue off those services if they sell these in US.
