Remember August 5th? Let me refresh your memory. The HP TouchPad had been on the market for about a month and HP has already marked down the price of the tablet from $499 to $399. To make things even better, bargain retailer Woot, which offers one deal each day, was selling the 16GB TouchPad for just $380.
A few weeks later all heck broke loose. There was a report that hardly anyone was buying the tablet, soon followed by news that HP would discontinue the product and liquidate existing HP TouchPad tablets for as little as $99. Suddenly one of the worst selling tablets of 2011 turned into one of the best selling.
Suddenly that $380 Woot price didn’t seem like such a good deal though.
Now it looks like Woot is apologizing by automatically refunding $100 of the purchase price to customers that bought the tablet when it was on sale and offering full refunds for anyone that wants to return the tablet.
If you bought the tablet directly from HP you may be able to convince the company to offer you an even deeper refund, but this still seems like a pretty classy move by Woot.
