CT 704

You now what US consumers really need? Another Android tablet. Fortunately Taiwanese company WIN Accord is ready to help us out. The company’s CT 704 tablet showed up at the FCC today. It doesn’t have the fastest processor or the latest version of the Google Android operating system, but it actually doesn’t look all that bad. For the right price, this could make a decent portable media player, eBook reader, or web browsing machine.

The CT 704 has a 7 inch, 800 x 600 pixel capacitive touchscreen display and an 800 MHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor. It feature 512MB of RAM and 2GB of storage. There’s also a microSD card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage.

The tablet runs Google Android 2.2 Froyo and features 802.11b/g/n WiFi and a 3-axis g-sensor. It has a USB port, stereo speakers, and a built-in mic. It has a 3200mAh battery which the company says is good for up to 4 hours of video playback or 80 hours of standby time.

The device can support 1080p HD video playback if you happen to have MPEG 1/2/4 or H.264 files hanging around. It can also handle RealVideo movies with resolutions up to 720p.

Measuring 7.2″ x 5.5″ x 0.5″ and weighing 0.86 pounds, the CT 704 isn’t going to win any awards for thinnest or lightest design, but it’s still about half the weight of a Motorola XOOM or Toshiba Thrive tablet.
