The first version of Easy Peasy, or the operating system formerly known as Ubuntu Eee, was just released a few weeks ago. But developer Jon Ramvi is already looking ahead to version 2.0.
Easy Peasy 2.0 will be based on Ubuntu 9.04, which won’t officially be launched until April. But early builds are currently available, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Ramvi is getting a head start. Aside from any changes introduced by Canonical (the team behind Ubuntu), Ramvi says he plans to use a new file system which will add faster booting and document loading and the ability to syncrhonize files online using Dropbox.
That’s not to say that there won’t be any Easy Peasy updates before April. Ramvi plans to do a small release every month or so with minor updates, and may launch a daily image server for people who really want to keep up to date with the Linux distro’s progress.
Of course, Canonical has also taken notice of netbooks over the last year, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see better support for the Intel Atom processor and other netbook hardware built into Ubuntu 9.04, which could make custom Linux distributions like Easy Peasy and Eeebuntu less necessary.
But how does it run on the Samsung NC10?
