The latest laptop from the Umbrella corporation, or rather, Chinese electronics maker DianJiTek is a thin and light 11.6 inch laptop that bears a more than passing resemblance to a certain thin and light 13 inch model from Apple. But it’s red (although it’s also available in silver, black, or brown). And it has an umbrella on the lid.
The insides are also more netbook than Macbook Air. The DianJiTek DI 1201 has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB hard drive. It has a 3 cell, 3200mAh battery.
The laptop also isn’t going to ship with OS X, although I’d be surprised if you couldn’t get the Mac OS to run on this machine using some of the standard hackintosh tools.
I doubt we’ll see the DI 1201 outside of China anytime soon, but you can pick one up in China for the equivalent of about $360.
Also, I think that’s a mushroom Brad. Just sayin’….
Aren’t most netbooks and most computers made in China? I’d say we ‘all’ have a facination with computers made in China whether we know it or not.
I noticed Brad seems to be facinated with insignificant China made notebooks.
Either there is nothing to write about or No name or funny name China notebooks seem to be the in thing now.
One of these statements may be true…
oooooor all these netbooks you want him to cover are covered by at least 10 other gadget sites, and noone covers the chinese ones. if this site becomes just like every other, reviewing the standard netbooks im erasing the bookmark and never coming back again.
