Walmart and TruConnect have launched a new prepaid mobile broadband service that lets you pay for a set amount of data and then use it at any time. In other words, you don’t have to pay $30 this month and then $30 again next month whether you use all your data or not. You just pay for the data you use. The service is called Internet To Go, and it uses Sprint’s 3G wireless network. 
Here’s how it works: You buy a Novatel MiFi 2200 Â wireless hotspot, and then pay for the amount of bandwith you want. You can use it all at once or over the course of a year or two. Regular users can also sign up for automatic refills. Here are the rates:
- Â 100MB for $10
- 500MB for $25
- 1GB for $45
- Automatic refills at 450MB for $20
The MiFi costs about $120. The prices aren’t all that great when you compare them to the monthly plans offered by most companies. But if you rarely need internet access on the go for your tablet, notebook, or other computer, you could actually save a lot of money with this type of service. Or you could just find a coffee shop with free WiFi and pay $2 for a cup of coffee. via GigaOm
