Video streaming service Vudu has launched a new Android app that lets you rent or purchase videos and watch them on an Android device. The Vudu app is available as a free download from the Google Play Store, and right now the company is offering 10 free movies to new customers — you don’t even have to fill out any payment information to get them.

Vudu for Android

Vudu supports video streams in standard and high definition video formats, although higher definition videos tend to cost more.

While the Android app is new, the company already offers video streaming for a wide range of devices including the Apple iPad, Roku set-top-box and Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 video game consoles.

You can also stream movies from a computer with a supported web browser.

Vudu also gives you up to $5.99 in credit for every device you register (unfortunately “devices” means game consoles, Blu-ray players and other set-top-boxes, not PCs or Android tablets).

The free movies Vudu is giving away in the moment include older titles such as “The Producers,” “Psycho,” “Lethal Weapon,” “Big Trouble in Little China,” and “Never Been Kissed.”

  1. How do you find what the free movies are? I installed it on my Nexus 7 and there is nothing about free movies.

    1. you need to complete your signup on and link ultraviolet to get the free movies.

  2. Not compatible with any of my Android devices including Galaxy nexus. Did they post it but hold it back?
