Later today Dynamism will start taking pre-orders for the Viliv N5 mobile internet soon, with the MID expected to ship starting July 19th. UMPC Portal reports that customers who order between July 6th and 15th will get a spare battery for free, which is worth about $50.
The Viliv N5 looks like a netbook’s kid brother. It has a QWERTY keyboard, but most people will find it easier to type with their thumbs than all 10 fingers, thanks to the small size of the device. The N5 has a 4.8 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display.
The mini-laptop has a 1.3GHz Intel Atom Z520 processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 32GB solid state disk.
Dynamism will offer a WiFi-only version of the Viliv N5 for $649, while you can pick up a model with 3G mobile broadband capabilities for $799.
I was going to buy it until i saw the prize and i prefer an ipad.
It seems like a lot of money for some thing that seems less capable than a netbook that costs way less. If they have it cost 1/3 the price above, it might do well; IMO.
It’s actually a nice form factor but I’d like to see a lower cost option with Android.
Way too little for way too much and way too late.
