Viewsonic first showed off an Atom powered all-in-one PC at CES in January, and the company made the PC official in June. But I got my first look at the Viewsonic VPC100 last week, and while it’s a nice looking 18.5 inch all-in-one, I’m not convinced it’s worth the $599 asking price, especially considering you can pick up an Asus Eee top ET2002T all-in-one with NVIDIA ION graphics for the same price. The VPC1000 has standard Intel GMA 950 graphics.
On the other hand, Amazon is selling the computer for $499 , which certainly seems a bit more reasonable.
The computer does have an 18.5 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display with a 5ms response time, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1Gb of RAm, a 160Gb hard drive, an 8x DVD RW drive, 4 USB ports, Ethernet, and 802.11b/g WiFi. The computer has a 1.3MP webcam, built in speakers and a mic.<
