Woot is offering the ViewSonic G Tablet 10 inch Android tablet for $279.99 + $5 for shipping and handling today only. The tablet may not have the super high resolution display offered by the latest tablets from Motorola, Samsung, Toshiba, and others. But this little guy is a pretty capable machine, especially if you’re willing to play with custom firmware updating the operating system.
Out of the box, here’s what the tablet offers:
- 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 piel capacitive multitouch display
- 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor
- Google Android 2.2
- 512MB RAM
- 16GB of storage
- 802.11b/g/n WiFi
- 1.3MP camera
- 3650 mAh battery
- 10.5″ x 6.8″ x 0.5″
- 1.6 pounds
- 1080p video playback with supported formats including H.264, H.263, VC-1, MPEG2, MPEG4, WMV9, and DiVX
Customers have complained that the tablet feels sluggish when using the standard software, but third party ROMs such as VEGan-Tab, TNT Lite, or CyanogenMod offer better performance.
I ordered it and then sent in my cancellation the screen just sucks, and when dealing with a tablet that is a deal breaker
Well when you can pick up an ipad1 for $350-400 prices are bound to drop everywhere.
With all the manufacturers and rebranders rushing out tablets,
and the very short product life cycles, look for more of this
clearance/closeout type of activity.
I wouldn’t be suprised to see any slate, that fails to gain
market share traction within 6 months of introduction, go
this route.
