The ViewSonic G-Tablet is a 10 inch slate computer running Google Android 2.2. It might not dual boot Windows 7 and Android like the ViewSonic ViewPad 100, but that’s because the G-Tablet has an ARM-based NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor which should offer better battery life while still providing 3D grahics acceleration and support for Flash 10.1 and 1080p HD video playback.

Laptop Magazine reports that the ViewSonic G-Tablet will have a list price of $529, although it will likely sell for a bit less when it hits Radio Shack, Walmart, Costco, Sam’s Club, and other retail stores.

The tablet has a 1.3MP front-facing camera, USB and microSD support, and 16GB of storage. It has a 1024 x 600 pixel capacitive multitouhc display, 1GB of RAM, Bluetooth 2.1 and 802.11b/g/n WiFi.

The $529 price tag might seem kind of high when Apple is charging $499 for the WiFi-only iPad, but I actually paid $529 for my Google Nexus One smartphone about 6 months ago when I bought it without a wireless contract.

  1. I would just like to make it clear that Google doesn’t acknowledge G tablet as a device just yet. Meaning, no Android Market for this one. Also its price could go as low as sub 500-USD. G-Tablet Updated Impressions

  2. Laptop Magazine says that the 1.3-MP webcam is for video chats. What apps are available on these Android devices for doing video chats? I think Skype will currently only work on Verizon phones?

      1. Cool. So with Fring, it appears that one wouldn’t be able to video chat with someone using a Windows or Mac computer as Fring does not seem to be supported on those platforms. It would be nice to be able to video chat with somebody who is using a PC or Mac, while I use an Android device.

  3. I don’t get it. Google keeps saying that Android is not meant for tablets, yet everyone and their dog is pimping Android tablets. I guess it’s iPad envy
