ViewSonic has released a firmware update that adds support for Adobe Flash and USB host capabilities to the ViewSonic gTablet. The 10 inch tablet runs Google Android 2.2 and features a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor. It typically sells for about $300, making it the cheapest Tegra 2-based tablet on the market today, and every now and again you can pick one up for even cheaper.

The new software allows gTablets users to plug in a USB keyboard and mouse, connect the tablet to an external docking station, and view international cities in the Weather app. There’s also now language support for Spanish and French.

The software update should be available as an over-the-air update, so users should receive a notification letting them know when the software is available.

The ViewSonic gTablet also made headlines this week thanks to hackers who managed to install a custom software kernel that supports overclocking the device to run at up to 1.4 GHz. Normally the NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip is designed to run at 1 GHz.
