Based on a tip from TUAW, I stopped by a Verizon Store today and confirmed that the company is deeply discounting first generation Apple iPad tablets. You can pick up an iPad 16GB WiFi model for just $299.99. Tack on an extra $100 for a 32GB model, and the top of the line 64GB iPad WiFi is going for $499.99 — about the same price as a 16GB iPad 2.
While the new iPad 2 is thinner, lighter, has a sturdier screen, and a faster dual core processor, the original iPad is still the best-selling tablet in the world with tends of thousands of apps designed to run on the platform. At just under $300, it’s a pretty good deal… while it lasts.
16GB iPads are mostly gone! It went on sale on Thursday.
