The Motorola Droid Turbo smartphone will be available from Verizon starting October 30th for $200 and up. As expected, the newest member of the Droid family has a high-resolution display, a fast processor, and some of the same software features that make Motorola’s other phones special, including Moto Actions and Moto Display.

The Droid Turbo also has a big battery: Verizon says it should get about 48 hours of battery life.

You can thank the 3900mAh battery and some software tweaks for the long battery life. The phone also supports a quick charge feature which Verizon says will let you get 8 hours of run time out of a 15 minute charge.

Other features include a 2.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, a 5.2 inch, 2560 x 1440 pixel display, 3GB of RAM, and a 21MP camera.

The phone will ship with Android 4.4 KitKat software, but an Android 5.0 Lollipop update is on the way.

Verizon will offer a model with 32GB of storage for $200 with a 2-year contract. You can pick up a 64GB model for $50 more.

While most smartphones these days have tough glass screens that are designed to resist scratches, Verizon is also offering something new: a screen replacement program. If you crack your Droid Turbo screen, Verizon will replace it for free… but you can only do this once, so it’s not exactly an invitation to be careless with your phone.

  1. What’s the big deal? I typically get 4+ days on one charge with my Droid Maxx (not razr)….

  2. I would not trust Verizon to deliver any Android updates. They’re notorious for delaying updates.

      1. That would be a nice change. My experience is that they’ll sell you a phone with the latest Android version on it, but after that you’re on your own.
