The Velocity Micro Cruz T510 is a tablet with a 9.7 inch, 1024 x 768 pixel display, a 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor, and Android 4.0 operating system. Velocity Micro introduced the tablet in January, and now it’s available for purchase for $249.
Velocity Micro has been making decent inexpensive tablets for a few years, but the landscape has shifted and while $249 seems like about the right price for this type of device, a single core ARM Cortex-A8 processor is a little disappointing. So is the fact that this isn’t a Google Certified device, so it ships with the Amazon Appstore instead of the Google Play Store.
For the same price you can get a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) tablet with a faster dual-core CPU and Google’s app store.
If you’re sold on the 1024 x 768 pixel display and don’t mind the lack of Google Certification, the Coby Kyros MID9742 provides similar features to the Cruz T510 for about $200.
Anyway, the Cruz T510 has 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, a microSD card slot, micro USB port and mini HDMI output.
The tablet has front and rear cameras, Mali 400 graphics, and a number of decent apps preloaded including Adobe Flash, Angry Birds Space, Zinio, Astro File Manager, and QuickOffice Pro.
Velocity Micro also plans to launch a 7 inch Android 4.0 tablet soon.
