It looks like Asus is preparing to update its cheapest 10 inch Android tablet. The Asus MeMO Pad 10 ME102A sells for under $200Â and has a 10 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display and a Rockhip RK3188 processor.
Now a new model called the Asus MeMO Pad ME103K has shown up at several European retail websites.
The new model seems to be about the same size and shape, but it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor.
Other specs seems to be largely unchanged. Like last year’s model, the new MeMO Pad has a 1280 x 800 pixel display and 1GB of RAM. it features a micro SDXC card reader, 802.11n WiFi, and Bluetooth.
The new tablet will ship with Google Android 4.4 KitKat and it’s expected to sell for around the same price as the older version.
Asus also introduced several new MeMO Pad tablets with smaller screens this summer — but most of those models feature Intel Atom Bay Trail processors.
With a Qualcomm SoC I would expect that it would also include features like 3G and GPS…
Maybe Asus disabled them internally to avoid the costs of a GPS antenna and a SIM card slot?
