Dell is just starting to roll out an Android 2.2 update for users of the Dell Streak 5 inch tablet/phone. But the company is already offering Android 2.2 Froyo on new Dell Streak models ordered from Dell.com.
Prices start at $579.99 for an unlocked Streak with Froyo.
In addition to black, Dell is also now offering the Streak in red and white — although the white model is available exclusively from Best Buy in the US. Right now the red and white models are only available with Android 1.6 preloaded, but they’ll be upgradeable once Dell starts rolling out the Froyo update.
Customers who purchased unlocked Streak models in countries outside of the US are already starting to receive the over-the-air Froyo update. The next step will be to push the update to phones that are SIM-locked to a carrier, including the US Streak models which are tied to AT&T’s network. This should happen in December.
Of course, by then, Android 2.3 Gingerbread will likely be available for at least some Android devices.
When will FroYo 2,2 be avaialbe for Dell Streak units purchased at Best Buy?
