Want to know how Ubuntu Netbook Remix runs on the Acer Aspire One?
Spanish language blog Asus E3 apparently took the plunge and installed Ubuntu Netbook Remix on an Aspire One. As you can see, it runs pretty smoothly although it takes a fairly long time to boot.
Ubuntu Netbook Remix is currently available as an add-on for Ubuntu 8.04. In other words, you first need to install Ubuntu, then you can install the Netbook Remix packages which include optimizations for the Intel Atom CPU and for devices with small screens. Eventually Canonical hopes to partner with PC makers to preload the operating system on low cost ultraportable computers like the Asus Eee PC and Acer Aspire One.

I am having trouble mounting an installation of ubuntu from a usb onto an acer aspire one netbook. it doesn’t want to mount a volume. Any ideas or help
i really like ubuntu, but honesly, the boot time is just too BAD for a netbook. I was thinking about giving it a try (and i probably will just for fun), but this boot time is really a downfall. anyway, ubuntu is really flexible and user friendly and i guess it’s worth the test…
I installed it on my aspire and I like it better than Linpus. One bug: audio does not word after resume from suspend. Boot does take a long time – 30 seconds.
You can get the sound to work after suspend (and fix a host of other compatibility issues by following the guides illustrated here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AspireOne)
