The Moto 360 may have been the first Android Wear smartwatch to feature a round design… but the display doesn’t actually make use of the whole circle. The watch has a 320 x 290 pixel display, with a small black area at the bottom. Some folks have taken to calling this the “flat tire.”

Find the flat tire ugly? There’s a third-party watch face for the Moto 360 that can make it pretty.

Watch Face – Minimal & Elegant is a $0.99 app that displays weather, time, and custom fonts. But its killer feature might be the “Little Worlds” add-on that lets you customize the bottom of the screen.

Little Worlds are basically drawings that sit just above the flat tire… and the best of them incorporate it into their design.

You can design your own Little World or download some of those shared by other users. There are city skylines, sports scenes and logos, animals, and more. Some of the most entertaining are… from the entertainment section, where you’ll find an MSTK world, a Mad Men logo, and other familiar scenes.

Sure, there’s no way to turn the little black bar on the Motor 360 into anything other than a black bar… but this is a rather nifty way to make it look like it’s supposed to be there.

  1. The solution is as bad as the problem it solves. But at least there’s a solution.
