The Toshiba NB205 netbook is now available in the US from retailers including Amazon
The laptop is available in two different configurations. There’s a cheaper model which sells for $349 and which comes in black, features a slightly different finish, and lacks Bluetooth. For $399, you get a higher quality case, a choice of colors, and Bluetooth. Both versions include a 6 cell, 5800mAh battery that Toshiba says is good for 9 hours, as well as a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, and a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display.
Both models also come with 802.11b/g WiFi and run Windows XP.

They did take their own sweet time bringing this thing out. I like the design and would have probably bought it if it had come out in October ’08.
Is it too late to bring out a netbook with specs from October of 2008?
It seems to me that we are on the cusp of the 11″ revolution; and on the cusp of an ultra-thin revolution. Also we have machine that are starting to have NVIDIA ION or other more powerful graphics. If you look around there are just so many improvements that are starting to show up that make the standard 10″ with Bluetooth and they typical specs look tired.
This is a design that was working a year ago, but does it have the legs to last in ‘this market’ for long?
A very good keyboard, long battery life and a low price and go a long way in this market (and in a down economy).
This market’s [sic] netbooks compete on aesthetics, build quality, keyboard design, and battery life- as it should be and always has been when we’re talking about a machine literally named a -net book-. The ultra-thin revolution [sic] of 2 hour battery life and enormous power bricks died a year ago with the introduction of just what cheap ultraportable? Netbooks!
