Earlier this month Toshiba started showing off a Windows 8 tablet with an 11.6 inch display and a keyboard dock that lets you use the machine like a notebook. It’s called the Toshiba Portege Z10t, and now the company has officially launched the tablet in Germany, which means there are more details available.

Toshiba Portege Z10t

The Toshiba Portege Z10t features an 11.6 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel display and will be available with Intel Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 processor options. While it has the low-power versions of each chip that are designed for tablets, it should still pack more punch than a similarly-sized tablet with an Intel Atom processor.

It also probably won’t get the same kind of all-day battery life we’ve come to expect form tablets with Atom chips… at least not unless you connect the tablet to its keyboard dock.

The good news is that the keyboard dock looks pretty great. It has a full-sized backlit keyboard, a touchpad, and USB, VGA, HDMI, and Gigabit Ethernet ports.

On the tablet you’ll find a USB 3.0 port, HDMI, and a microSD card slot. The tablet also features 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0.

Optional components include an integrated UMTS modem, an optional active digitizer, and optional Intel WiDi wireless display technology.

The Toshiba Portege Z10t measures 11.8″ x 8.7″ x 0.8″ when you put the keyboard and tablet together, which puts it into ultrabook territory.

  1. Thought it had a 10″ screen. What does the 10 in z10t mean? Oh well, maybe Haswell.

  2. Nice screen resolution, but with Core i series CPUs this thing is going to be hot and noisy.
