Toshiba is showing off a PC concept it calls a 5-in-1 PC. It’s a notebook that becomes a tablet, and a presentation machine, and a few other things.
At first glance, it looks a lot like the 2-in-1 tablet/notebook hybrids that have flooded the market in the past year, but when you remove the keyboard from Toshiba’s device, you’re still left with a base that you can use as a stand.
So what are the five modes?
- Laptop mode
- Tablet mode (Detach the keyboard and use the device as a tablet)
- Canvas mode (Flip the screen 270 degrees, detach the keyboard, and prop up the tablet to use with a pen)
- Presentation mode (Flip the screen 180 degrees and stand it up so it faces away from the keyboard for videos or other presentations)
- Convertible table mode (Flip the screen 360 degrees so it’s opposite the keyboard and use the machine as a tablet)
You can also detach the keyboard, turn it over, and insert it back into the keyboard dock so when you’re in convertible tablet mode you can hide the keyboard behind the screen without the keys facing outward.
At this point the PC is just a concept device so there are no specs available other than the fact that the device has a 13.3 inch display. There’s no word on price, processor, or screen resolution because Toshiba hasn’t officially committed to releasing a real product based on this design.
