Toshiba has launched a new line of 2-in-1 Windows tablets in Japan. The Toshiba Dynabook R82 is a tablet with a 12.5 inch display that weighs just about 1.5 pounds when used without its optional keyboard dock, while the Toshiba Dynabook RT82 is a similar device aimed at enterprise users.
There’s no word on if or when we’ll see either model in the United States.
Pricing hasn’t been announced for the Dynabook R82, but the business-oriented RT82 will sell for $1735 and up in Japan when it goes on sale March 13th.
The tablets are powered by Intel’s low-power Core M Broadwell processors and feature 4GB of RAM, 128GB to 256GB of solid state storage, 1920 x 1080 pixel displays, and work with keyboard docks that sport full-sized USB 3.0, Ethernet, and HDMI ports. Toshiba says the tablets should get up to 10 hours of abttery life.
Select models also include an active digitizer for pressure-sensitive pen input.

Just wondering if hell will have to freeze over or pigs
fly before Apple brings out an iPad with an active digitizer.
When other companies being innovative, making something new or better, most people don’t mention it. When the all-god-might Apple Inc. make something new, everyone talk about it for months like they have invented flying cars that can shoot lasers out of the rear to cook bacons. This effect is kind of similar to political idolization in North Korea. I am not saying Apple Inc murders innocent people for profit (at least not directly) but it is funny to see some (if not most) people who purchase Apple product to do something that any other computer with cheaper price can do. I have one Lenovo and one Dell mid range laptops with half the price of the Apple laptops in the same spec range. I’ve been using them to write code, program microcontrollers and built robots and electronics for years. They are still working fine with no issue. My brother however, he bought a $2700 MacBook pro to do graphical rendering or whatever architectural CAD he has ( I believe he ran it on virtual machine win xp or win 7 within mac OS). He said he need to buy an external graphic card to do it so he had to buy the best MacBook pro (highest spec) available in order to use that external graphic card. I told him “what? I can build u a great desktop with the graphic card using that money!” He refused and he can’t even explain why not building one instead but he just like Apple but hate to admit it. It is not like he’d never used PC before…I just don’t know. Perhaps having a black business looking laptop doesn’t make him look cool in front of his hippie friends? Well, not my place to judge but I can not come with any logical explanation at this time. Apple does make decent devices but I am saying some people buy Apple products not knowing (or even refuse to know) there are something out there better and cheaper for them.
Amen brother. I only buy Apple when I absolutely have to.
Sadly, unless Google or Samsung come up with a mobile
payments setup that’s widely accepted, one of my future
devices will have to be an iOS one.
Google seems to have taken over Softcard…
12.5 inch full PC that weighs just 1.5 pounds in tablet mode? Wow, color me impressed. I would be interested in taking a look at this if they bring it to US with a reasonable price.
