The LG G Watch R is a rather nice-looking smartwatch with a 1.3 inch round face, a P-OLED display, and support for changeable wrist bands. It also happens to have a stainless steel body, but you might not know that since it’s covered in black paint.
Prefer you metal to look silver/grey? One person decided to use sandpaper on the LG G Watch R to remove the paint… and the watch actually looks pretty great without it.
Anthony B basically made the stainless steel watch look like a stainless steel watch and added a stainless steel wrist strap to complete the look.
Using fine sandpaper, he scraped away the black paint around the sides of the watch. The bezel around the screen is still black with white numbers, but he’s thinking about sanding that portion away as well if he can do it without damaging the screen — which raises a good point: this is the sort of DIY modification that could seriously damage your device. If you spend $299 on a smartwatch, you probably want to spend some time thinking about that before pulling out the sandpaper.
Of course if you haven’t already spent that kind of money on LG’s first Android Wear smartwatch with a round face, you might just want to wait for the company’s next model. The LG G Watch Urbane is an upcoming luxury model which has an all-metal finish.
