Less than two years after adding digital comic books to its library of content, Netflix-for-eBooks service Scribd has removed them.

The Digital Reader reports that comics were pulled from the service with little fanfare, and that Scribd confirmed the news in a statement that claims “few actively took advantage of them” anyway.

Scribd continues to offer subscribers access to a variety of eBooks, digital magazines, eBooks and other content.

There are still a number of options for folks interested in paying a monthly fee for a collection of comics that you can read on a phone, tablet, or web browser.

Marvel Unlimited offers thousands of titles for $10 per month of $69 per year, although you won’t find anything published within the last few months on the service, and some popular titles like Alias (the comic that was adapted to become the Jessica Jones TV show on Netflix) aren’t included.

Amazon’s ComiXology Unlimited runs $5.99 per month and includes titles from a range of publishers. That sets it apart from Marvel Unlimited, which (unsurprisingly) features Marvel titles only.

There’s at least one other option worth considering: if your public library lets you check out content from Hoopla, you may be able to “borrow” up to 10 graphic novels (or eBooks, audiobooks, movies, or other content) per month for free.
