Amazon Instant Video

The Amazon Kindle Fire is the first Android tablet to support Amazon’s Instant Video streaming service. Users can purchase or rent TV shows or movies from Amazon and stream them over the internet or download them to the tablet for offline viewing.

But the service only works in the US and only on tablets that haven’t been rooted.

Folks that have rooted the Kindle Fire have already figured out that they can temporarily unroot it using the free OTA RootKeeper app. Now there’s also an app that lets users outside of the US stream Amazon Instant Video on a Kindle Fire.

World Wide KindleFire

It’s called World Wide KindleFire and it’s available from the Android Market for 99 cents. In other words, you’ll need to root your tablet in order to install the app.

But when you run it, it will automatically (and temporarily) unroot your device before streaming a video and then restore root access as soon as you’re done watching. In other words, the app lets you stream videos internationally and removes the need for OTA RootKeeper.

There’s still a catch though: in order to use Amazon Instant Video you’ll need a US Amazon account. You can’t login using a British or French account, for instance. Fortunately there are ways to create a US billing account even if you don’t actually live in the States.
