Several US retailers have started to stock the latest mini-laptop from Sony. In Europe, the new model is called the Sony Vaio M, while in the US it appears to be part of the Sony Vaio W series…with a not-so-easy-to-remember model number: Sony VPCM111AX/W.

Fortunately you don’t really have to remember the model number. there are two easy ways to spot this netbook. It sells for about $380 instead of $450. And it has a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display instead of the 1366 x 768 pixel HD 10.1 inch screen on its more expensive sibling.

TigerDirect has the Sony Vaio VPCM111AX/W in stock for $379.99. J&R also has a pre-order page for the netbook which it will sell for $379, although J&R (perhaps mistakenly) says the laptop has a 1366 x 768 pixel display.

  1. Hey,
I have been looking for the drivers for this and recognized that the models are divided into series.

For the above you mentioned /w which is a variant of the base model.
The base model would be VPCM111AX and the versions of that model are /W and /B

The series is called VPCM which could simply be an abbreviation of VAIO PC M
