Toshiba isn’t the only company bringing a Windows 8 tablet with a slide-out keyboard to market. Sony is showing off the Vaio Duo convertible ultrabook at the IFA trade show in Berlin this week.

As expected, it’s a tablet with an 11.6 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel display and WIndows 8 software. But if you pull out the keyboard from behind the screen, you can use the Sony Vaio Duo as an ultrabook.

Sony Vaio Duo

The Sony Vaio Duo features a Intel Core i3 or Core i5 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 128GB solid state disk. It has 1 USB 3.0 port, a USB 2.0 port, VGA and HDMI ports, and supports 802.11n WiFi/ Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and GPS connectivity.

Sony’s new tablet measures 12.7″ x 8.9″ x 0.7″ and weighs 2.6 pounds.

The screen is a full HD touchscreen display with IPS technology for wide viewing angles.

MobileGeeks reports the tablet will be available in Europe for 1199 Euros and up starting in late October.

  1. This would be a miracle at 119 Euro!
The source article says 1199 Euro 😉 which makes much more sense.
