Sony is showing a concept design for an upcoming ultrabook. There’s no word on the price, processor, or physical dimensions, but if the new Sony Vaio laptop follows Intel’s guidelines for ultrabooks it will likely measures less than 0.8 inches thick, weigh less than 4 pounds, and have a Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge processor.
The computer has a what Sony is calling a full-flat enclosure, which means that it’s no thinner in the front than the back — but it’s pretty thin all the way around, so that’s probably OK.
The 13 inch laptop has 2 USB ports including 1 USB 3.0 port. There’s also an HDMI port, VGA port, headphone jack, Ethernet jack, and a card reader which supports SD cards and Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo.
While those specs might not sound that impressive, the Asus UX31 ultrabook I’m using needs special adapters for VGA or Ethernet connections, because the case isn’t thick enough to support full-sized ports.
Feh, they will just brick it like the did the PS3 running Linux.
Anyone buying anything from Sony is an idiot or works for one.
Just bring back the Vaio P, please.
One of the better looking ultrabooks imo though, it looks a little thick. I do like the more edgy industrial design.
Funny, nonetheless, that everyone will say this is a knockoff of the MacBook Air just as they’ve said it about all untrabooks however, Sony has been making these types of thin profile laptops for years.
Just goes to show, when apple does something a large group of people (especially tech ‘journalists’) seems to forget everything that came before.
That is the brilliance of Steve Jobs. Bringing all the media on their side.
