Simmtronics Semiconductors has had introduced a netbook called the Simmbook which is available in India for 13,999 Rupees, or about $306 US. While that price is pretty competitive, the Simmbook features last year’s specs including a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU at a time when you can pick up an Acer Aspire One 532h with a new Atom N450 chip for $299 in the US.
The company plans to offer the Simmbook in the US, Europe, and other areas as well as India.
Rounding out the laptop’s specs we have a 10.2 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, 1GB of RAM (with support for up to 2GB), a 160GB hard drive (with support for up to 500GB), 802.11b/g WiFi, 1.3MP webcam, 10/100 LAN, SD card reader, a 3 cell, 2200mAh battery, VGA output, and 3 USB ports. The Simmbook supports Windows XP, Windows 7, or Ubuntu Linux and weighs 2.76 pounds.
