Tired of listening to case fan whirring and the hard drive clicking away in your PC? German company Deltratronic makes computers that use no fans and run silently. The company’s latest model is an all-in-one desktop which Deltatronic is positioning as a media-centric system.
It’s called the Silentium! AIO, and it’s available for a rather pricey € 990 ($1310) and up, not including taxes or shipping.
The base price covers a desktop PC with a 23.6 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel display, 4GB of RAM, a 128GB Samsung SSD 840 Pro series solid state drive, and an Intel Celeron Ivy Bridge processor. You can also opt for Core i3 through i7 chips if you want a bit more performance, but right now the Silentium! AIO is only available with Ivy Bridge parts.
Cooling is handled by a passive heatpipe which generates no noise. Since the system has a solid state drive instead of a hard drive, there are also no spinning platters.
In fact, the only thing in the spec sheet which looks like it could make a bit of noise from time to time would be the DVD writer… and the 2 x 3 watt stereo speakers, of course.
The computer also features built-in 802.11n WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 3.0, a 0.3MP webcam, a flash card reader, 4 USB 3.0 ports, and HDMI and DisplayPort.
Delatronic says the total power consumption of the system is about 30W, but a 120W power supply is included just to cover the base.

You know what’s also completely silent? The sound of no customers waiting to buy this machine….$1310 for an Ivy Bridge Celeron processor? Yikes.
