Vizio may have made a name for itself by offering decent TVs and other consumer electronics  at relatively low prices. But the company seems to want to make a play for the premium space with its latest ultraportable notebooks.

Vizio introduced a new line of notebooks with touchscreen displays at CES in January. Now the company has revealed pricing for the new notebooks… and there’s not a particularly cheap model in the bunch.

Vizio thin and light

The model with the lowest price is the Vizio VT14T-B0, a 14 inch thin and light laptop with an AMD A10 processor and an 1600 x 900 pixel display. It has a suggested retail price of $1089.99.

Prices are higher for models with Intel processors or larger displays (the 15 inch models have 1080p screens):

  • 14 inch Vizio CT14T-B1 w/Intel Core i7 for $1419.99
  • 15.6 inch Vizio CT15T-B0 w/AMD A10 for $1189.99
  • 15.6 inch Vizio CT15T-B1 w/Intel Core i7 for $1469.99

The company is also introducing new all-in-one desktop PCs with touchscreen displays and the same processor options. Prices for those computers start at $1279.99 for an AMD-powered model with a 24 inch display.

The good news is that all of these new touchscreen models do come with some premium features including 802.11ac WiFi which is up to 3 times faster than 802.11n. Each model also comes standard with 8GB of RAM and a solid state disk (the AMD models have 128GB of storage while the Intel models feature 256GB).

But bargain hunters will certainly be able to find thin and light laptops with lower prices from other companies.

Vizio does have a habit of running sales on its notebooks regularly. So while the new thin and light laptops will start at $1090 and up, it might not take long until we see prices drop.

You can pre-order Vizio’s latest thin and light notebooks at the Vizio Store.

  1. In regards to cost, remember that’s an IPS touch screen. Photographers and graphic designers need that IPS screen. I don’t believe even Apple notebooks have IPS screens.

  2. I’m sure Vizio will drop the prices on these when they realize that hardly anyone would be willing to buy them at those prices.
