Samsung offers a wide range of Android tablets, but most have one thing in common: widescreen displays. But it’s possible that the company’s next tablet or tablets could have iPad-like screens with 4:3 aspect ratios.

Indian import website Zuaba is showing listings for new tablet samples described as Samsung SM-T555 tablets with 9.7 inch screens, and the folks at SamMobile recently reported that a tablet with that model number and screen size could be on the way.
SamMobile’s sources also say the tablet will have a 4:3 aspect ratio and that Samsung could be working on SMT-35x series tablets with 8 inch screens as well.
If the website’s sources are correct, these tablets will likely be mid-range devices with Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processors.
Samsung has scheduled an event for Sunday, March 1st where the company is expected to introduce new products ahead of this year’s World Mobile Congress trade show in Spain. So it’s possible we’ll learn more about these tablets in a few weeks.

“iPad sized screen”
Please author, remove yourself from the tech arena if you can’t communicate your point in inches/centimeters and instead have to resort to marketing non-sense.
it should use tizen instead of android.
I hope they don’t abandon the 10.5 and 12.2 and larger screens. I think they are on the right path there frankly.
iPad-sized screen? Of course you could have also said HP Touchpad, desktop monitor, Microsoft Tablet PC (2002) etc.. TV..
I don’t see to many 9.7 inch desktop monitors out there.
Nexus 9 then; I agree with his point, it’s tedious when things have to be described in Apple-units, which means we just have to look up the size or be told anyway. Apple released 4.7″, 5.5″, 7.9″ devices after everyone else, but they don’t get described in terms of “other-device-sized”.
I disagree, its the opposite of tedious. To say it is “ipad/touchpad/MS tablet-sized” is tedious. It’s a fairly relevant comparison, to say Ipad-sized. None of those other devices are relevant anymore.
The Nexus 9 also does not have a 9.7″ screen
Can someone make a 3:2 ratio tablet besides Barnes and Noble and Microsoft
Think for yourself Sammy!
They don’t make these decisions in a vacuum. They spend a lot of money researching what customers want, so if they’re going that way, it’s where they believe the market is.
I think the best thing is that people can think and choose for themselves. A strength of Android (and Windows) is choice, so whilst I prefer widescreen tablets, it’s odd that Android tablets seem to have gone entirely 16:9 or 16:10. So having a choice of 4:3 aspect ratios doesn’t mean they’re copying (nor that it’s what most people want), it means people are getting the choice.
(Personally I prefer watching my videos without the ridiculous black bars, especially on a device where screen size is limited enough as it is, but some people do prefer 4:3.)
