Samsung has unveiled a new PC monitor with a feature that should be standard on most monitors at this point in the tech industry, a charging station.
But we’re not talking about extra USB ports so you can plug in a bunch of chargers. There is a wireless charging station built right into the monitor’s base that will allow users to juice up their Qi compatible devices simply by setting them on it.
The SE370 monitor comes in 23.6 and 27-inch sizes, and features a display screen that has a high-performance Plane-to-Line-Switching (PLS) panel, which wide viewing angles. Samsung says the monitor can also offer bright visuals while reducing eye strain with the environmental optimization settings of “eye-saver” mode.
It uses AMD FreeSync technology for a faster screen refresh rate and minimal input latency, which helps reduce stutter and lag during gaming and video playback. The monitor’s “game mode” detects scene changes and corrects blurry images and enhances colors during fast-paced gaming.
Of course, the most interesting feature is the built-in Qi charger. Instead of cluttering up your desk with all of those USB wires, you can set your smartphone or tablet right on top of the monitor’s base while you are browsing the Web. By the time you are finished shopping for rare import records online, your device should be charged up and ready to go. No additional clutter or gadgets necessary.
A built-in charging station seems like it should already be standard on PC monitors. However, Samsung’s SE370 is the first of its kind. The company has not provided a release date or pricing structure for the new monitor at this time. It will be fully compatible with Windows 10 when it launches.
