Samsung’s latest Chromebook features a simple design, a reasonably light-weight body, and long battery life.
The Samsung Chromebook 3 is an 11.6 inch notebook that measures 0.7 inches thick, weighs 2.5 pounds, and should get up to 11 hours of battery life. Samsung says it will be available for purchase in early 2016, but the company hasn’t revealed the price yet.
Specs suggest this will be an affordable model: the notebook has a 1366 x 768 pixel matte, anti-glare display, an Intel Celeron N3050 Braswell processor, and 2GB or 4GB of RAM.
Of course, entry-level notebooks in 2016 have a few features that were reserved for premium devices in years past. The Chromebook 3 does feature 802.11ac 2×2 WiFi and features a USB 3.0 port as well as a USB 2.0 port, HDMI, microSD card reader, and a headset jack.
Other features include Bluetooth 4.0 and 1.5 watt stereo speakers.
While Samsung couldn’t confirm to me that the notebook is fanless, I certainly didn’t see any fan vents in the case, and the notebook does feature the same low-power Braswell chip found in a number of other recently launched small, low-cost, and fanless laptops.
