Samsung has introduced two new ultrabooks. They’re both thin and light laptops priced at around $1000, give or take a hundred bucks or so. But the Samsung Series 5 Ultra will come in 13 inch and 14 inch models.
Both will have matte displays which sets them apart from the sea of glossy laptops on the market. While matte screens still aren’t great for outdoor viewing, they reflect at much less glare than glossy displays.
The ultrabooks will also both have USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports, full-sized HDMI and Ethernet ports, and an SD card slot.
Three different models will be available in the US:
- 13.3 inch display with 500GB hard drive and 16GB SSD for $899
- 13.3 inch display with 128GB solid state disk for $1099
- 14 inch display with 500GB HDD/16GB SSD, DVD drive, and VGA port for $949
Samsung’s 13 inch ultrabook will measure about 0.6 inches thick and weigh a little over 3 pounds, while the 14 inch model is 0.8 inches thick and weighs just under 4 pounds.
Both laptops are scheduled to hit the streets this January.
